Matt turns the big 3-0 today! And we all know that whenever and wherever there’s a birthday, birthday cake comes along! These days traditional birthday cakes don’t align with our way of eating: they are generally full of sugar, preservatives, and flour. But when it comes to healthy cakes, the jury is still out for most people: “How can something that’s healthy for you taste good?” they say.
So that’s the challenge we all face: how can we make an amazing Paleo birthday cake, that looks fabulous that even our non-Paleo friends and family can enjoy? We’ve done some trawling through the world wide web, and to celebrate Matt’s milestone we are sharing 10 amazing Paleo Birthday Cakes just for you!
Each recipe is gluten free, grain free and refined sugar free! This means they are free of preservatives and artificial flavours too! Most of the cakes are dairy free, but some recipes may include grass fed butter -in which case it is an easy swap to coconut oil!
That’s not to say these cakes are completely sugar free! Oh no, they are still full of natural sugars. A little bit of natural sugar is absolutely fine, as it does include fibre which helps your digestive system. But just remember to stop at 1-2 slices – we don’t recommend devouring the whole cake! As tempting as that may be, the best part of enjoying birthday cakes is eating it with the people you love! So share that yummy healthy cake, and be reassured you are being nourishing with every bite!
These cakes are mainly made using almond meal or coconut flour instead of standard flour. What you get is a denser style cake that is equally delicious.
